Unable to start Catlight

I have just installed Catlight on my Windows 7 Sp1 (latest windows updated) corporate desktop. I get a blue screen saying "Cannot start the application". The logs say the following. What do I need to do to get this working?:

Hi,

for my colleague the Universal CRT update solved the problem.

Thank you.

Thanks, I received the following error:

---------------------------
LocalWeb.exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I then installed the Universal CRT update and the problem was solved!

Thanks for the help

Regards

Microsoft lists the following prerequisites for using .Net core on Windows 7:

  • Please make sure that your Windows installation is up-to-date and includes hotfix KB2533623 installed through Windows Update.
  • Universal CRT update (you can get more info on what Universal CRT is in this blog post)

You can try installing them. Let us know if that helped.

One of my colleagues has the same problem, the localweb server does not start.
When he starts the webserver from command prompt, a dialog opens that the "application was unable to start correctly" (0xc000007b)

But no real message what is missing, is there some kind of debug mode to adress that issue?

You can try starting "C:\Users\anthony\AppData\Local\CatLight\app-1.8.7\resources\LocalWeb\LocalWeb.exe" from command prompt, it should print to the console some information about what is missing. We can then use it to find the update or library that is required.

The updates are controlled by our corporate admin. Are you able to be more specific which update is required and I can request it if neccessary? Please see the latest updates applied below:

Hi Anthony,

Make sure that your have latest windows updates installed.

.Net Core depends on one of them to run on Windows 7.
